Ads on hahaboo are bought as views, paid for in advance, and reviewed by a person before they run. Every ad is labelled Sponsored, and anybody can hide or report it.
Advertisers must follow these policies, our Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines, and the law where the ad is shown. We may refuse or remove any ad that does not.
- Anything illegal, and anything that helps somebody break the law.
- Drugs, including recreational drugs and drug paraphernalia, and prescription medicines.
- Tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping products.
- Alcohol.
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives.
- Gambling, betting and lotteries.
- Adult content, dating services and anything sexually suggestive.
- Loans, investments, cryptocurrency and "get rich quick" offers.
- Political parties, candidates, elections and issues of political debate.
- Miracle cures, weight-loss claims and other health claims that cannot be backed up.
- Counterfeit goods, and anything that infringes somebody else’s copyright or trademark.
- Scams, phishing, malware, and pages that ask for passwords or payment details under false pretences.
- Honest: the ad, its picture and its link must be about the same business and the same offer.
- Clear about who is advertising: the business name must be the advertiser’s own.
- Free of shocking, violent or hateful images, and of anything that mocks people for who they are.
- Not made to look like a post, a message or a notification from hahaboo or from another person.
- Linked to a working https:// page that does what the ad says.
- Something you have the right to use - your own photos, music and words, or ones you are licensed for.
Feed ads take a picture or video, reels ads a vertical video, story ads a vertical picture or video, and sidebar ads a picture. The same size limits apply as to posts: 20 MB per file.
Every ad is reviewed by a person after it is paid for, usually within one business day. We approve it, or we tell you why we did not.
An approved ad can still be removed later - after a report, or if the page it links to changes - and we tell you if that happens.
Ads are priced per 1,000 views, depending on where they appear. Advertisers paying from Nepal pay in Nepali rupees; everybody else pays in US dollars. The current prices are on the Advertise page, and the price that applies is the one shown when you make the ad.
The smallest budget is Rs 500 or $50 unless the Advertise page says otherwise, and an ad runs for 1 to 30 days.
You pay the whole budget in advance, when you make the ad. You can pay by debit or credit card (Visa and Mastercard, from Nepal or abroad, and any other card brand shown on the payment page), by eSewa or Khalti in Nepal, or by bank transfer where we show our account details - with your ad’s code in the remarks. Bank, transfer and currency-conversion fees charged by your own bank or wallet are yours to pay.
Cards are paid on our bank’s secure payment page, which may ask your own bank to confirm the payment (Visa Secure, Mastercard Identity Check), and wallet payments in eSewa or Khalti. We never see or store your full card number, its security code or your PIN; we keep only the card’s brand, its last four digits and the payment’s transaction ID, to match refunds and answer questions.
A card or wallet payment is confirmed straight away. A bank transfer is checked by hand, and your ad is reviewed only once the full amount has arrived.
- A view is counted when at least half of the ad is on the screen of a signed-in person for at least one second.
- One person’s views of one ad count at most 3 times a day, and not twice within half a minute.
- Your own views of your own ad never count.
- Views are spread evenly between your start and end dates. If not every view you paid for has been shown by the end date, the ad stops and you are refunded for the views that were not shown.
Ads are shown to everybody on hahaboo alike. They are not targeted using anything people do on hahaboo or anywhere else, and we never tell advertisers who saw their ad - only how many people saw it and tapped it.
- An ad we do not approve is refunded in full.
- An ad we stop or remove early is refunded for the views that were not shown - unless it was removed for breaking these policies.
- An ad you pause stays yours: resume it before its end date and it carries on.
Refunds go back the way you paid - to the same card, wallet or account - usually within 10 business days, though a card’s bank can take longer to show it. Questions about a payment: support@hahaboo.com, with your ad’s code.
